In a tragic incident on the Mukono-Kayunga road, near the Mpoma Satellite station, a motorcycle accident claimed the life of a Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) soldier and left two others seriously injured. The accident occurred when the motorcycle, carrying three individuals, collided with a vehicle.
The deceased has been identified by Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, Mr. Patrick Onyango, as LCpl Kundo Obedi, a 30-year-old soldier enrolled at the Uganda Military Engineering College (UMEC) in Lugazi town, Buikwe District. LCpl Obedi, service number RA 229084, was navigating the motorcycle with two passengers when the collision with a Toyota Gaia, driven by Egyptian national Abdel Muhassen Kamal, took place.
“LCpl Obedi was pronounced dead at the scene, while the two passengers accompanying him suffered severe injuries,” Mr. Onyango disclosed.

The injured passengers were urgently transported to Kawolo and Naggalama hospitals for immediate medical attention. Meanwhile, LCpl Obedi’s remains were moved to Bombo military hospital, and the involved vehicles were taken to the Mukono police yard for further investigation.
Mr. Onyango took this moment to issue a reminder to all road users about the importance of vigilance and respect for fellow travelers to prevent such unfortunate incidents.
