Buganda Road Court’s Chief Magistrate, Ronald Kayizzi, has denied bail to a TikTok user who posted videos mocking the Kabaka of Buganda, Ronald Muwenda Mutebi, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, and two other government officials.
The decision stems from the fact that 21-year-old Ibrahim Musana, also known as Pressure 24 Seven, lacks a permanent residence, making him difficult to trace, as explained by Magistrate Kayizzi. Despite presenting conflicting residency claims, Pressure’s whereabouts remain uncertain. Initially stating residence in Kauga village, Mukono district, he later presented an introductory letter from LC1, claiming residency in Church Zone, Najjanakumbi. However, the area chairperson of Church Zone disowned him, confirming suspicions raised during Pressure’s arrest at a Ntinda hotel, where he had resided for two months.
Pressure, represented by his lawyer Raphael Mafabi, sought bail based on his constitutional rights. However, State Prosecutor Richard Birivumbuka objected, citing inconsistencies in Pressure’s surety, Ibrahim Ssembatya Matia, who falsely claimed residence in Muzaana Zone, Kisenyi.
In an attempt to secure bail, Pressure provided another LC1 letter claiming residency in Budaka, where he stays with his mother during school holidays.
Nevertheless, Pressure remains remanded at Luzira prison until March 26, 2024, for further court proceedings.
