A devastating road accident claimed the life of Abella Amutusimire, a student from Kihunda village in Sheema District.
The 17-year-old had recently celebrated her success in the Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) 2023 exams.
Amutusimire, who had looked forward to advancing her education, was on her way to seek admission to S.5 at Kibingo Girls School when tragedy struck.
Having received her S.4 exam results with flying colors, she had secured admission to continue her studies.
However, fate had a different plan.
The accident occurred at Kitwe trading centre in Rwentuha Town Council.
A Sino truck collided with the bodaboda motorcycle Amutusimire was riding on.
She tragically fell off the motorcycle and succumbed to her injuries on the spot.
The news of Amutusimire’s untimely death has left the community in shock and mourning.
Residents recall her as a bright and ambitious young woman with a promising future ahead of her.

The rider of the motorcycle, identified as Clinton Niwetwesiga, was also injured in the accident and received medical attention at Kitwe Clinic.
As the community grapples with the loss of the student, her family, friends, and teachers are subsequently left to mourn the premature end of a life filled with potential and promise.
The Kibingo Girls School administration, where she had been admitted for S.5, expressed their shock and sorrow.
Amutusimire’s passing is thus a sobering reminder of the fragility of life and the importance of road safety measures.
