In a directive issued during the 38th NRM/A Victory Day anniversary celebration in Jinja, President Museveni instructed the Minister of Transport, Gen Katumba Wamala, to initiate a comprehensive investigation into the deteriorating condition of the recently constructed Mukono Katosi Nyenga Road. Expressing concern over the rapid development of potholes on the road merely two years after its completion, President Museveni emphasized the need for a thorough inquiry into the alleged substandard construction.
Addressing the gathering, President Museveni conveyed that he became aware of the road’s condition after receiving reports from locals, prompting his intervention. He highlighted the significance of ensuring quality infrastructure projects and stressed the urgency for Gen Katumba Wamala to assess the road and determine the factors contributing to its premature degradation.
In a broader context, President Museveni disclosed plans for a forthcoming government campaign aimed at educating children from low-income families. This initiative aligns with the overarching theme of this year’s celebrations, “Building a country we all shall cherish.” The President emphasized the commitment to fostering a nation where every citizen has access to quality education, irrespective of economic background.
The directive and announcements made during the ceremony underscore the government’s dedication to addressing infrastructure challenges and advancing educational opportunities for all citizens, in line with the overarching goal of nation-building.
