A coalition of opposition political parties has officially launched a new political alliance called the “Holy Alliance,” aimed at paving the way for Uganda’s post-Museveni era.
The coalition includes the National Economic Empowerment Dialogue (NEED) led by Joseph Kabuleta, the Justice Forum (JEEMA) led by Hon. Asuman Basalirwa, the Conservative Party (CP) led by John Ken Lukyamuzi, the Democratic Party Block (DP Block), and a faction of the Uganda People’s Congress (UPC), among others.
During the unveiling of the alliance in Kampala, JEEMA President Asuman Basalirwa emphasized their vision for a new Uganda governed by the rule of law and respecting all human rights. He stressed the importance of constructive dialogue and engaging stakeholders, including Ugandan citizens, to gather their input on the future they envision for the country. Basalirwa also called on Parliament to play a role in facilitating the transition by drafting transitional legislation.
NEED President Joseph Kabuleta echoed the need to prepare Ugandans for the post-Museveni era and emphasized the importance of creating a nation where every citizen enjoys financial freedom.https://theprism.co.ug/mps-react-to-governments-plan-to-relocate-luzira-prison/
