CP Enanga disclosed a dramatic turn of events in Kabango village, Kakoola Sub-County, Mpigi district, where commandos launched a raid to apprehend Tabula, the accused mastermind behind the assassination of Eng. Daniel Bbosa Lwomwa, the esteemed leader of the Endiga (Sheep) clan. The operation, aimed at capturing Tabula last week, narrowly missed its target; instead, a motorcycle was discovered, hinting at his recent presence.
Enanga revealed that the security forces had information suggesting Tabula might be concealing himself on one of Mpigi district’s islands. He urged the public to assist in Tabula’s capture by offering a reward of Shs10 million for information leading to his arrest.
Further intelligence indicated that Tabula has been visiting various shrines, seeking the protection of his ancestors’ spirits to thwart the investigation. Enanga issued a stern warning to any witch doctors found harboring Tabula, stating they would face arrest and charges for their involvement in Bbosa’s murder.
The police spokesperson also reported the arrest of seven individuals connected to the case, including Noah Derrick Luggya, the alleged gunman. Luggya, who narrowly escaped a mob’s wrath, is currently under medical care at Mulago Hospital. Emmanual Sserunkuma, accused of being Luggya’s accomplice and motorcycle driver, was not as fortunate and was killed by the mob.
In addition, Milly Naluwenda, a clerk at the Buganda Kingdom’s cultural court (Kkooti ya Kisekwa), has been detained. High-level security sources confirmed her communication with Luggya shortly before the crime was committed. This communication, traced through Luggya’s phone, led to the identification and arrest of the suspects.
Enanga reassured the Buganda community, the Endiga clan, and Bbosa’s family that the correct suspects had been apprehended and would soon face legal proceedings.
In 2022, the Kkooti ya Kisekwa declared Bbosa’s occupation of the Endiga clan leadership position illegal, recognizing Tabula, who had challenged Bbosa, as the legitimate clan leader. This decision was contested by David Kiwalabye Male, the Buganda Kingdom’s then culture and security minister, who affirmed Bbosa’s leadership following his appeal to Ronald Muwenda Mutebi, the Kabaka of Buganda and the ultimate authority on cultural matters in the kingdom.
Bbosa’s assassination has intensified the rift between supporters of Tabula and those of Bbosa. Following Bbosa’s death and in response to the Kabaka’s directive, communicated at Bbosa’s funeral in Mbale village, Mawokota county, Mpigi district, by Professor Twaha Kawaase Kigongo, security forces are now tasked with apprehending those responsible for the murder of the clan leader.
