The International Crimes Division of the High Court has issued an order for eight individuals to stand trial for the murder of former police spokesperson AIP Felix Kaweesi.
These eight defendants will now face charges of terrorism, murder, and aggravated robbery of a firearm (pistol) before a panel of three justices.
The accused individuals include Abdul Rashid Mbaziira, Higenyi Aramadhan, Burhan Balyejusa, Mugerwa Yusuf, Kyambadde Josua Magezi, Nyanzi Yusuf Siraje, and others.
In a confirmation of charges ruling delivered by Justice Alice Komuhangi Kaukha, the prosecution has presented sufficient evidence to support the charges of murder and terrorism against the suspects.
According to the prosecution, on the morning of March 17, 2017, at Kulambiro in Nakawa division, the suspects, along with others who are still at large, allegedly murdered AIP Kaweesi, his bodyguard Cpl Erau Kenneth, and his driver Wambewa Godfrey. The victims were traveling in a police vehicle while the assailants were reportedly seen riding on a motorcycle.
