President Yoweri Museveni has made new police appointments following a meeting with the new Inspector General of Police, Abbas Byakagaba.
Senior Commissioner of Police (SCP) Fred Enanga, the police spokesperson for nearly seven years, has been appointed Deputy Director of Interpol-Uganda, replacing Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Rusoke Kituuma. ACP Kituuma, previously the Regional Police Commander for the Rwizi policing region, will now be the police spokesperson. He will be deputized by ACP Clare Nabakka, who had been acting as deputy spokesperson.
CP James Ruhweza has been appointed Deputy Director of Operations Services, assisting the new Director, SCP Frank Mwesigwa. Ruhweza is known for his role during Dr. Kizza Besigye’s protests in Kampala.
SCP Stephen Tanui, former Kampala Metropolitan Police Commander, is now Deputy Director of Fire and Rescue Services, working under AIGP Fadhir Kamali, who replaced AIGP Joseph Mugisa.
CP Sarah Kibwika, previously the Commandant of the Professional Standards Unit (PSU), has been appointed Commissioner in charge of Human Resources Management (HRM). She is succeeded by SCP Christine Nanding, who had been Deputy Director of the Legal Directorate.
