In a spate of routine road carnage that occurs in Uganda unabated, today four students from Buganda Royal Institute of Business and Technical Education met a tragic end in a devastating car accident along the Garuga Road in Musinde, Katabi Town Council, Wakiso District. The unfortunate incident occurred as they were en route to a beach party, their weekend plans taking a heartbreaking turn.
Eyewitnesses recounted the horrifying scene, describing how the students were traveling in a Toyota Rumion when the vehicle collided with a stationary soda truck. The collision was the result of the driver’s attempt to overtake another vehicle, leading to a fatal crash.
Police spokesperson Michael Kananura provided details of the accident, revealing that the speeding Toyota Rumion, bearing registration number UBH 582S, attempted a risky maneuver on a sharp corner, resulting in the tragic collision with the soda truck. The impact claimed the lives of four students on the spot, while two others sustained severe injuries.
The injured students were swiftly transported to Kisubi Hospital for urgent medical attention, while the bodies of the deceased were respectfully conveyed to Mulago City Mortuary for postmortem examinations.
As authorities conduct thorough investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash, the entire community mourns the loss of these bright young individuals whose promising futures were abruptly cut short. The tragic incident serves as a sobering reminder of the importance of road safety and responsible driving practices.
