Former Busiro South MP aspirant, Paul Owor, found himself in legal trouble as he was remanded to Luzira prison on charges of fraud, impersonation, and land malpractice.
These charges stem from allegations that Owor defrauded Ms. Loyce Nahwera of Shs75 million under the pretext of selling her a 100×100 piece of land in Namulanda zone, Kajjansi Town Council, Wakiso District.
Appearing before the Entebbe magistrate’s court, Owor faced four counts including forgery, uttering false documents, obtaining money by false pretense, and conspiracy to commit a felony.
Despite vehemently denying any wrongdoing, Owor attributed the charges to political witch-hunt aimed at tarnishing his reputation among his supporters.
Chief Magistrate Stella Maris Amabilis presided over the court proceedings and ordered Owor and his co-accused, Geoffrey Opule, to be remanded to Luzira and Kigo prisons, respectively, until March 25, 2024. This date was set for a ruling on their bail application.
The allegations against Owor are serious, including the accusation of selling the same piece of land to both Ms. Nahwera and Mr. Opule at Shs75 million each in July 2022.
As the legal process unfolds, Owor finds himself entangled in a legal battle that could have significant implications for his political career and personal reputation.
