The Women’s League of the opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) has urged the government to implement measures that foster the active involvement of women in politics. Agnes Kisakye, the party’s women leader, emphasizes that the nation’s future hinges on women’s active engagement across all spheres, yet their participation in formal political arenas and decision-making processes remains inadequate.
Kisakye underscores that achieving gender equality necessitates providing all women and girls with equal opportunities to develop their skills and capacities, enabling them to contribute positively to society. To enhance women’s political participation, FDC has integrated affirmative action into its policies, earmarking 40% of positions in party structures at every level for women.
Additionally, FDC Women have chosen to commemorate the day in Dokolo district alongside a series of activities, including a free medical camp offering general medical services and treatment
