Law enforcement officials in Kampala Metropolitan have confirmed the apprehension of Milly Naluwenda, a traditional court clerk in Buganda Kingdom, regarding the brutal killing of End Daniel Bbosa Lwomwa on Sunday evening.
Ms. Naluwenda’s arrest unfolded on Thursday amidst a tumultuous scene when plainclothes armed personnel descended upon her residence in Kitunzi Zone, Lungujja, Rubaga Division, discharging live rounds to disperse the locals.
According to Paul Werikhe, Naluwenda’s son, his mother was forcibly taken away by individuals driving a Toyota Hiace, colloquially known as a Drone, and forcibly placed inside the vehicle.
In a concise statement issued on Friday afternoon, Mr. Patrick Onyango, spokesperson for Kampala Metropolitan Police, affirmed that Ms. Naluwenda is currently under police custody. Investigations uncovered extensive communication between Naluwenda and one of the perpetrators involved in the murder of the clan head.
“Last night, the Crime Intelligence unit conducted an operation in the Lungujja area of Rubaga Division in Kampala, resulting in the arrest of one suspect, Milly Naluwenda. The arrested individual is held to aid the ongoing investigation being conducted by the Uganda Police Force,” Mr. Onyango elucidated.
While the motives behind Naluwenda’s arrest remain ambiguous, Mr. Onyango urged calm among her family members as investigations proceed.
“We urge members of her family to remain calm as investigations progress,” he emphasized.
Meanwhile, on Friday, Buganda Kingdom Prime Minister, Owek Charles Peter Mayiga, extended a warm welcome to the newly appointed Ndiga Clan leader, Eria Buzaabo Luggya Lwasi, as preparations for the late Daniel Bbosa’s burial are underway.
