A Pass, who also goes by the name Bagonza Alexander, took a bold step recently by unfollowing several celebrities who he perceived were unsupportive of his latest Bagonza album.
Expressing his belief that these artists harbored jealousy towards his success, Uganda’s music sensation, A Pass emphasized that genuine support from his peers matters more to him than anything else.
Having refrained from releasing music for a while, A Pass remains steadfast in his commitment to quality. He explained that he won’t compromise on quality, even with the emergence of younger artists in the industry. His latest album, which boasts an impressive 45 songs, is considered a unique accomplishment in Uganda’s music scene.
Despite hosting a listening party for his new album at The Villa Bar and Restaurant in Bukoto,Kampala on Tuesday,January 30,2024, only a handful of musicians attended to show their support, which left A Pass feeling grateful but also disappointed.
A Pass conveyed deep gratitude to those who stood by him during this significant moment in his career, acknowledging their meaningful contribution. He voiced his intolerance for those who feign affection but fail to support him in crucial times.
In response to the perceived lack of support, A Pass decided to unfollow individuals on all social media platforms who didn’t stand with him. His π account, for instance, currently displays zero following, as he prioritizes connecting with his devoted fans.
Reflecting on this decision, A Pass tweeted,
“Itβs hard to appreciate others when you have jealousy. I will be unfollowing them on all platforms, and in their places, I will follow my fans. Fans are more important, as my mom reminded me yesterday. ππΏ”
A Pass’s decision to unfollow certain celebrities who did not support him has sparked a conversation in Uganda’s music industry, with many praising him for taking a stand and prioritizing his fans.
The singer, song writer and producer last released a music album on Friday April 27,2018 which he named the African Yayo.
