In a distressing turn of events, social media platforms have been flooded with news of a child who, in a desperate act, set himself on fire after failing to achieve the ‘desired’ 4 aggregates, in the recently released P.L.E.
The incident came to light through an audio recording circulating widely, featuring a distressed woman identified as the sister to the boy’s father.
In a somber tone, she recounts the tragic ordeal, revealing, “That is not just social media, that is my brother’s son. He is around 16 to 17 years old.”
The auntie details the horrifying sequence of events, explaining that upon discovering his P.L.E results fell short of expectations.
The young boy wrapped himself in a blanket, doused himself in petrol, and then ignited the flames in the bathroom.
The distressing audio paints a vivid picture of the immediate aftermath, with neighbors and other children realizing the severity of the situation when smoke began to fill the air.
Tragically, all attempts to save the child were in vain. The auntie shares, “He was rushed to several clinics but they referred them to Kirudu Hospital, and that is where they ended.”
According to her, the boy is now in critical condition, with almost 95% of his body severely burnt.
“Doctors say 95% of his injuries are internal. His condition is critical, and we may lose him. Auntie shared details about the burned child.” the auntie continued to reveal everything about the kid who sustained burns.
This heart-wrenching incident sheds light on the immense pressure children may face in the wake of academic expectations, prompting a broader conversation about the mental well-being of students and the need for supportive environments during crucial exam periods.
