The Uganda Coffee Development Authority (UCDA) has disclosed that Uganda’s coffee exports in February 2024 totaled 434,582 60-kilo bags, valued at US$ 82.56 million (Shs320.428Bn). These figures were outlined in the Authority’s monthly report.
The report indicates that the coffee exports consisted of 372,407 bags of Robusta valued at US $ 68.58 million and 62,175 bags of Arabica valued at US$ 13.98 million. This represents a 9.36% decrease in quantity compared to the same month last year.
Furthermore, the destinations of Uganda’s coffee exports during February 2024 reveal that Italy maintained the highest market share at 37.74%, followed by India at 11.11%, Sudan at 9.50%, Germany at 9.08%, and the U.S.A. with a commendable market share of 4.31%.
On a continental scale, coffee exports to Africa amounted to 60,948 bags, representing a market share of 14%, compared to 45,094 bags (9%) in the previous month. African countries importing Uganda coffee included Morocco, Sudan, Algeria, South Africa, Egypt, and Kenya. However, Europe remained the primary destination for Uganda’s coffees, commanding a 64% share of imports.
