The Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) is considering the development of policies aimed at regulating emerging technologies that play a pivotal role in enhancing productivity and driving economic growth within the country.
Nyombi Thembo, the Executive Director of the UCC, emphasizes the necessity of regulating rapidly advancing technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, contending that their responsible use can significantly contribute to boosting productivity nationwide.
Furthermore, Nyombi highlights the substantial progress Uganda has achieved in terms of connectivity and data adoption.
These remarks were made during a press briefing preceding the Global Symposium for Regulators 2024, which is scheduled to be hosted by Uganda in July. The event is expected to convene over 700 international delegates.
