Residents of Kaduku village in Mahyoro ward, Mahyoro Town Council, Kitagwenda District, have raised concerns about the poor quality of work on the 24-kilometer Rwentuha-Mahyoro road, which reportedly cost 380 million Shillings.
Their apprehensions stem from the frequent flooding of water in Kaduku trading center whenever it rains, obstructing access to the road for locals. They point out that the absence of culverts exacerbates the issue, as water channels towards their houses.
The residents fear that the stagnant water poses a threat to their homes and property, especially considering the significant funds allocated for road construction. They are calling on authorities to prioritize the installation of culverts and open trenches to address the water drainage problem.
In response, Engineer Andrew Baguma, the District Engineer of Kitagwenda, urged residents to exercise patience, assuring them that construction works are ongoing. He also confirmed plans to install culverts at various locations along the road to mitigate flooding concerns.
