President Museveni declared that Gen Wilson Mbadi Mbasu now commands all elements of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF).
Through social media, President Museveni invoked constitutional provisions and clauses from the UPDF Act to legitimize Gen Mbadi’s appointment.
Gen Museveni acknowledged the late Lt Gen (Rtd) Pecos Kutesa’s contributions as the first Chairman of the UPDF Establishment Committee.
He also commended the UPDF for evolving into a “more matured and modern force.”
The new UPDF Establishment document facilitates changes in departmental structures to enhance command, control, and administration.
Gen Wilson Mbadi, promoted to General and appointed CDF in June 2021, succeeds Gen David Muhoozi in the role.
With his new mandate, Gen Mbadi assumes responsibility for overseeing the strategic planning and execution necessary to maintain peace and security across Uganda.
By delegating command, control, and administration authority to Gen Mbadi, President Museveni aims to foster cohesion and effectiveness within the armed forces.
Gen Mbadi’s leadership comes at a critical juncture for the UPDF, as it continues to navigate various security challenges within the region.
His experience and expertise indeed position him well to address these challenges and uphold the UPDF’s reputation as a professional and disciplined military force.
Additionally, Gen Mbadi will oversee the implementation of strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing the capabilities and readiness of the armed forces.
Therefore Gen Wilson Mbadi Mbadi’s appointment as CDF reflects President Museveni’s confidence in his ability to lead the UPDF effectively.
In conclusion, Gen Wilson Mbadi’s ascenion to CDF marks a significant milestone in Uganda’s military leadership.
